Castleman Engineering Building / University of Connecticut
Addition and Renovation
Storrs, Connecticut
$9,700,000
Castleman Building fronts the original UConn quad and is one of oldest buildings on campus. It is listed on the Connecticut and National Historic Register.
The Civil Engineering Department is part of the campus-wide research network, and the testing laboratories and classrooms required a high level of technological sophistication and adaptability.
The 45,000 square foot building was completely renovated including all new mechanical and electrical systems. The original building houses the administrative offices, auditorium and classrooms. A 10,000 square foot laboratory addition was added filling in two courtyards. The design of the addition and updating of the original building exterior was developed with input and reviewed by the Connecticut Historic Commission.
