Additions and Renovations
Holzman Moss Bottino Architecture
New Haven, CT
In 2006, a 107,000 square foot building was completed (phase I), while the original 1960s Buley Library building was left unused.
The project connects these two structures through a 10,000 sf addition, as well as gut-renovates the original 95,000 square foot building to recreate it into a modern library/learning center. Materials and stock leftover form Phase 1 were successfully integrated in the new construction. The lively, engaging interior is complemented by the elegantly austere facades with the North Face Clock greeting the campus green. A highlight of the project is the showcasing of the stained glass art windows in custom made wood enclosures, positioned to take advantage of the light filtering through the expansive windows.
10,000 SF Addition of connector to Phase I building.
95,000 SF Renovations of original building consist of original building Library, classroom and office spaces.
