Public Works Facility / Town of West Hartford
Addition and Renovation
West Hartford, CT
This was a multiple phase project completed over a period of 10 years. The changes to the facility reflected the Town's evolution in Town Services and space consolidation. A special challenge of this project was that the site was the old town dump. All structures are built on deep piles.
Phase I added a 10,000 square feet salt shed and a 11,000 square feet maintenance shop. The shop was equipped with a bridge crank, lifts and a 40 foot long pit. It is able to service all of the Town's vehicles including the fire trucks.
Phase II renovated the original 25,000 square foot building for administrative offices, welding and sign shops and vehicle storage.
Phase III consolidated the town's maintenance facilities and moved them into this facility. A separate vehicle storage building was constructed to make room for this renovation.
